FanDuel closes its operations in the UK

The Daily Fantasy Sports operator FanDuel closes its gates for UK players as of the 1st of August 2017. FanDuel informed about its decision via e-mail and its social media.

How to get money from a closed FanDuel account?

If you had funds in your FanDuel account, your balance has been credited to the most recent bank card that was on record for you. Players should also have received an email with more details.

During the past year almost £1 million was won by fantasy football enthusiasts alone in the UK and there may be still hope for the future, because FanDuel has expressed their wish to return to the UK market in the future.

Even though the beginning of August has not been very favorable for daily fantasy sports players in the UK, there is at least some good news from across the Atlantic. Delaware has become the 14th state that has legalized and regulated daily fantasy sports. The corresponding Bill will be effective in August, right in time before the start of the American football league seasons. However, a different approach has been adopted by the state of Massachusetts, which has classified daily fantasy sports as online gambling, so the future of DFS may be uncertain in this state, if the proposed regulations will become active.
